Obituary of John Raymond Sonmor
John Raymond (Ray) Sonmor, beloved husband of Mrs. Ardell Sonmor of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, July 2, 2006 at the age of 75 years.
Ray was born on February 4, 1931 in Hague, SK. Ray worked for Transalta Utilities for forty-one years until his retirement, and also volunteered as a ski guide for many years for the CNIB. He loved his entire family, and enjoyed spending countless hours with them. Participating and supporting them in whatever endeavours they chose was of utmost importance to him.
Besides his loving wife, Ardell (nee Hunt), Ray is survived by his two sons and one daughter-in-law, Lee and Debra of Calgary, and Kevin of Montreal; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Rick Harding of Calgary; and four grandchildren, Jill, Quinn, Eric, and Spencer. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold of Turner Valley, AB, Eugene and Maxine of Saskatoon, SK, David and Shirley of Red Deer, AB, and Gordon and Jean of Wolsley, SK; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his sister-in-law, June Sonmor; and his parents, Alma and Lee Sonmor.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. with his brother, Rev. David Sonmor, Presider.
