Obituary of Herbert Charles Martin

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Herbert (Herb) Charles Martin of Calgary at the McKenzie Towne Care Centre on Friday, June 30, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Herb was a true Calgarian, as he was born, raised, and lived his entire life in Calgary; growing up in the Hillhurst area and graduating from Crescent Heights High School. He was proud to be a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy, serving in the North Atlantic during World War II. After the war, Herb met the love of his life, Yzetta, and the two settled in Calgary to start a family. Herb will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty-eight years, Yzetta; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Herb and Susan, and Guy and Kathy; grandchildren, Claire, Jennifer, Zachary and Kellen; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mary; and sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ian. He is also remembered by many friends and acquaintances at the Ogden United Church, Ogden House Senior Citizen Club, the City of Calgary Plumbing and Gas Division, Titan Foundry and the Inglewood Golf Club. Herb was predeceased by his brother, William; and sister Jean. A Memorial Service will be held at Ogden United Church (7401 – 23rd Street S.E.) on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with Susan Wilkinson-Matticks L.M. Presider.
