Obituary of Evelyn Jordan

Evelyn Jordan passed away on Monday, June 26, 2006 at the age of 97 years. Evelyn was born in New Aberdeen, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia – she always told us she was born in Glace Bay. She was the eldest daughter of Andrew and Mary Goodwin. Her family moved west and settled in Bellevue, AB and she married George W. Jordan on December 19, 1931. They had four children, Leone, Douglas, Elizabeth, and James. Her son Douglas joined the Air Force and was killed in a car accident in 1955. Evelyn and George moved to Calgary in 1959. In 1981 they celebrated their Golden Anniversary. George passed away in 1990. Evelyn stayed in their home until 1996 and then spent some months with Elizabeth before going to Shawnessy Lodge, the Scottish, and Holy Cross Long Term Care Centre. Evelyn’s great love was for her family, enjoying her six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. We love you Mom We miss you Mom Till we meet again. She was the widow of the late George Jordan who predeceased her in February 1990; her son Douglas June 1955; son-in-law Gerald February 2000; and sister Muriel Radford September 1988. Evelyn was the loving mother of Leone (Frank), Elizabeth, and James (Diane); grandmother of six; great-grandmother of seven; and great-great-grandmother of three. She is also survived by her sister Grace Aveledo and numerous nieces and nephews. A Gathering and Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) today, June 30, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
