Obituary of Oscar Wirges
Oscar Wirges, beloved husband of Mrs. Hazel Mary Wirges (nee Taylor) of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the age of 93 years.
Oscar was born on the family farm in Courval District, Saskatchewan and was one of seven children. Oscar and Hazel married on September 7, 1948 and moved to Calgary. He worked for twenty-five years at the Canada Malting Company and had been retired for thirty-two years. Oscar was a member of The Sketch Club and loved to spend time sketching, painting and camping in the mountains as well as gardening. Oscar had a fondness for cats.
Besides his loving wife Hazel, he is also survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Carol, and James all of Calgary. Oscar is also survived by his sister-in-law Laura Wirges of Moose Jaw, SK as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, John and Hulda Wirges; his three sisters and three brothers.
