Obituary of Barry Allen Langford
Barry Langford of Calgary, passed away into the presence of God on Sunday, June 25, 2006 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 38 years.
Barry was born in Calgary, on August 24, 1967 and lived at both Providence Centre and Baker Centre. In 1992, Barry and five friends moved into the Legion Group Home and it remained his home until his death. He attended Parkmont Achievement Centre from 1973 to 1992 and was then accepted at Chrysalis. During his time there, he was a valued volunteer at many places, and also worked at Chapters – a job he loved. Barry had many interests in life, such as reading, puzzles, home improvement, watching cooking shows, spending time at William Watson Lodge, and his great love – construction; where he was able to watch for new sites and keep track on his city map.
Barry will be lovingly remembered by his chosen family, Shirley Haine; her daughters, Brenda, and her children Hailey and Joel, Hillary (Jan) and their son Jakub, and Amber and new baby Michael. He is also survived by his house mates, Willy, Gee, Sherry and Kim. He was predeceased by two special sisters, Melanie and Noelle; and by his special friend, Beth. Barry had a huge circle of friends who loved and cared for him – they were his family.
