Obituary of Hildegard Kowalczyk

Hildegard Kowalczyk of Calgary passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Hildegard was born November 1, 1925 in Kaunas, Lithuania and immigrated to Canada in 1941. She studied to become a nurse and later worked at the Holy Cross Hospital. Hildegard married Antoni in Calgary and their son Gordon was born in 1952. She loved her garden and gardening, sewing and crocheting. Hildegard will be sadly missed by her best friends and adopted family, Susan and Joe Sartore and their family; Evonna (Jason) Bercier and their children, Austin and Ellesia; Michael (Stacey) Sartore and their daughter Gabrielle and Christopher Sartore. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Carley Kowalczyk, Blaine Kowalczyk and Kerri Schell and three great-grandchildren; a sister Irene Helfrich in B.C. and two sisters and a brother in Germany. Hildegard was predeceased by her husband Antoni in 1988 and her son Gordon in 1987.
