Obituary of Cosburn FSA, MAAA, FCIA

On June 19, 2006, and with his family by his side, Dale Cosburn passed away at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his daughter Ruth of Toronto, ON; son Dave (Franny) of Guilford, ON and his son Bill of Calgary. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Kimberly and Bradley. Dale was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Linda, in 2003. Dale was born in Toronto on January 7, 1929 and pursued his education at The University of Toronto. Graduating with a degree in mathematics he continued on to become an actuary, obtaining his first job with The Imperial Life Assurance Company in 1951, where he worked for twenty-seven years. In 1983, Dale moved to Calgary and worked as an actuarial consultant. Dale was a generous, kind man who supported many charities in his lifetime. He was blessed with a good sense of humour and a compassionate nature. Dale was also very involved with The United Church and a lifetime of service with Scouts Canada. He was a talented musician and loved to travel. Dale was a very loving man and will be missed by all.
