Obituary of Bob Taverner

A. Robert (Bob) Taverner, beloved husband of Marlene, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2006 at the Colonel Belcher Veterans Care Centre at the age of 89 years. Bob was born in Lougheed, AB on February 23, 1917 and moved to Calgary in 1927. He served in the RCAF during WWII. Bob was employed by Alberta Wheat Pool for forty-five years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #284 and Thornview Seniors. Bob enjoyed curling, golf and gardening until his health no longer allowed, as well as the many trips he and Marlene took, especially those to Hawaii and Phoenix. In addition to Marlene, his wife of thirty-eight years, Bob is survived by his daughter Louise; son Bill (Jan); grandson Bobby, very special grandson Thomas (the light of his life); sisters Connie Duncan and Marian Hayman; brothers-in-law Al Smith (Tineke) and Tom Smith as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Shirley, his parents Will and Edith and brothers Will, Harry, Jack and Lou. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow in the Field of Honour at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
