Obituary of David Edgar Wood

David Edgar Wood, beloved best friend and partner of Lenni Werner-Schmidt, passed away suddenly on June 5, 2006, at the age of 59 years. David was born in Montrose, Scotland, and was raised in his early years in Doncaster, England. As a pre-teen, David emigrated with his family to Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, and later lived his teen years in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. David immersed his friends in many tales of his escapades in Prince Albert, his 2-years in the RCAF – stationed in Alsask, Saskatchewan – his work in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and his challenges to settle his life in the city he loved most, Calgary, Alberta. His business acumen took David on a successful career path at MSI Safety Equipment, Rocelle Pharmaceuticals, and the oilfield service industry, most recently as a dedicated Partner, Vice-President and General Manager of Ram Cementers Inc. David was revered for his honesty, integrity and loyalty in his business associations. Ever a bright spirit and confidante for his many friends, David gave the best of himself in every circumstance. Admired as an avid golfer, David cherished every opportunity for an 18-hole round with friends and associates. In his retirement, David dedicated himself to the love and affection he held for his best friend, Lenni, with whom his final years were spent hour upon hour in jocularity and kindred spirit, sharing the tales of his past, the responsibilities of his present, and the dreams of his future. His passing will surely leave a chasm of emptiness in the hearts of his loved ones and cherished friends, to be filled only with loving memories of his laughter, his benevolence, his wisdom and his goodness. Besides his loving partner, Lenni, David is survived and will be sadly missed by his sons, Kyle and Gared, remembered by his son Christopher, and held in the fond memory of Lenni’s son, Chris. He is also survived by his sister, Sheena and brother-in-law, Gerry Johnson. David was predeceased by his father, George H. Wood and his mother Anne Wood.
