Obituary of San Agustin

Salud “Mamang” Edralin San Agustin, wife of Ramon San Agustin, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2006, at the age of 86 years. Salud was born in Cavite City, Philippines, the eldest and only girl among four brothers. The couple married in 1937, and immigrated to Canada in January of 1974 along with their children. Salud was a master chef and a prodigious host. For several years, Salud ran a successful Filipino restaurant in Marlborough Mall (Manila Kitchen), and counted among her greatest passions, cooking for scores of people. As matriarch and head of the household, she instilled virtues of pride and respectfulness in her children. Every generation of her family has gravitated to her great compassion and wisdom. We will miss her immensely. Salud is survived by her two daughters, Ressie (Lloyd) Seib and Gemma (Jun) Turingan; her sons Oliver (Ellen), Adrian (Susan) and Rodrigo (Isabelle); her daughter in law Sue of Norfolk, Virginia; her grandchildren Robert (Patty), Salud (Vance), Alberto II (Chrissy), and Justin of Norfolk, Virginia; Noel and Cindy, Patrick (Marieke), Jon, Ian, Nathan, Raymond, Sheldon, Brittany, Brandon, Lizelle, and Lawrence; and her great grandchildren Jordan, Michelina, Sarah, Dylan, Scottie, Matthew, Cory, Miranda, Alberto III, and Ava. During WWII Salud suffered the loss of her daughter Diana, and her son Alberto in 2005. Her beloved husband Ramon passed away in Calgary in 1988.
