Obituary of Norman Aylward Chase

Norman Aylward Chase, beloved husband, father, grand-father, friend and the rock of our family went to be with his Lord on June 3, 2006, at the age of 78. His life is a living example to all of us. As family, we were blessed by his unconditional love. A man of integrity, he was humble, selfless, loyal, honourable and a strong man of faith. He showed patience, humour and endurance in the face of adversity. Everyone he met was touched in a unique way by his gentle loving spirit, he made everyone feel valued and special. Norm was born August 26, 1927 in Olds, Alberta. He enjoyed a successful career as a landman most recently with PanCanadian Petroleum and initially with Shell Oil. After Shell Oil, Norm spent several years as a reclamation officer with the Government of Alberta. He was married to the love of his life Evelyn Louise (nee Rivard) for almost 56 years. Their marriage has been an inspiration for many, especially their children, James (1951-1999), Jacqueline Knight, Keith, Kurt, Rene Higgin, and RaeAnn Althen; three sons-in-law, Richard Knight, Dr. Douglas Higgin and Scott Althen; two daughters-in-law, Mary Anne Chase and Susan Chase; their sixteen grandchildren and their spouses; his two sisters, Mary Maybank and Helen Honeychurch; and many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues, will forever miss him. Those wishing to join us in celebrating his life and legacy are invited to prayers at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (4718 Worcester Drive S.W.) on Wednesday June 7, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (4718 Worcester Drive S.W.) on Thursday June 8, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Michael’s Catholic Church to help those in need.
