Obituary of Gerald Bryce Richards

Gerald (Gerry) Bryce Richards, beloved husband of Patricia Mae Richards of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the age of 79 years. Gerry was born in Swift Current, SK on February 19, 1927. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1949. Gerry married Patricia on May 12, 1951 in Edmonton and together they moved to Lethbridge where he worked as a staff pharmacist for a year. They later moved to Calgary in 1952 where he worked in the Pharmacy Dispensary of the Calgary General Hospital for four years. Gerry worked as a pharmacy representative for the next fourteen years until he joined Calgary Co-op until his retirement in 1992. He was active in his church, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an Elder in the Priesthood and active in the Calgary congregation. Besides his loving wife, Gerry is survived by his children and their families: Bryce Richards of Calgary, Donald (Don) and Hope Richards of Independence, MO, Vickie and Douglas MacArthur of Lethbridge, AB; six grandchildren, Jared (Brooke), John, Jason, and Jessica Richards, Brendan and Andrew MacArthur; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Fraser Richards of Edmonton, AB and Murray Richards of Niagara on the Lake, ON. Gerry was predeceased by a granddaughter Emma Sue Richards. A Celebration of Gerrys Life will be held at Community of Christ Church (6415 Ranchview Drive N.W.) on Thursday, June 8, 2006 at 5:00 p.m. with Elder Don Jenkins, Presider.
