Obituary of Roy Sutherland

Roy Sutherland of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Roy was born on December 16, 1920 in High River, AB. Upon coming to Calgary, Roy met Ruth and they were married on December 17, 1941. He enlisted in the RCAF during WWII and served his country at various locations throughout Canada and overseas before retiring in 1969. Roy later worked in Field Aviation until fully retiring in 1990. He was a loving, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, whom especially loved to be with his family. He was an active member of the Elks , enjoyed curling , golfing.and fishing as well as being an exceptional gardener who grew the best tomatoes. Roy is survived by his sons, Bob Sutherland, Bill and daughter-in-law Brenda Sutherland; his daughter Joyce Hudson, all of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Kris, Kevin, Meagan, Shannon, Lindsay, Richard and Kayla; five great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. Roy is also survived by his brother Wilson (Marlene) and sisters Florence (Alvin) and Loreen (Hugh). He was predeceased by his wife Ruth; sister Maddlyn and brothers Joe and Earl.
