Obituary of Eleanor May Cross

Eleanor May Cross (nee McMaster) of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family on Wednesday, May 31, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Eleanor was born on November 7, 1921 in Toronto, ON. She met Reg Cross in Kingston, ON and they were married in 1943. Eleanor was an amazingly strong and tenacious woman who was also very loving and considerate. She and Reg owned a sailboat and as Captain and First Mate they would spend weekends sailing on the St Lawrence and the Great Lakes. They loved to go ballroom dancing and to attend the opera. Her passions in life were knitting and exercising, but most of all her family. Eleanor will be lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Joan Cross; and her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and David Ray; nine grandchildren, Rob Cross (Monica Blank), Colin (Ronda) Cross, Karen Barnes (Ray Horne), Adam (Natalie) Barnes, John (Lori) Ray, Heather (Eric) Morin, Susan (Travis) Rowe, Sherry (Brian) Campbell, and Karen (Dan) Jackson; eleven great-grandchildren, Jessica Cross, Kiefer Cross, Kaleigh Cross, Daniel Ray, Julia Ray, Carol-Ann Morin, Miles Rowe, Cassandra Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Brent Jackson and Callie Jackson; and one great-great-grandchild Jacqueline Jackson. She is also survived by two loving sisters Margaret Kruse and Irene Bowron. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Reg in 1986.
