Obituary of Larry Burney
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of Larry Burney on May 26, 2006 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 58 years.
Larry worked at Chrysler Canada upon graduation from college and spent his entire career in the automotive industry. In 1983, Larry was transferred to Calgary with Chrysler. Most recently, he was a valued employee of Renfrew Chrysler’s Fleet/Lease department. Larry loved his community and his passion was serving it. As the President of the Canadian Progress Club – Calgary North, he was the leader of a service organization that worked tirelessly in support of social agencies across the city. His is a large legacy that included a passion for life, love for his family, unceasing charitable work, love of sports (especially golf), a keen sense of humour, and an undeniable talent for storytelling. A family has lost a leader, friends have lost a companion and Calgary has lost a champion. “Let us not mourn the absence of the flame, but remember how brightly it glowed”.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife Liz Burney; loving father of Erin and Andrea; dear grandfather of Sarah, Tyler and Cole; brother Terri (Carol),of Windsor, ON; sister Gail Harvey of Calgary; and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother Nelson and Ellen.
