Obituary of Anthony Zacaruk

Tony Zacaruk, beloved husband of Mary (nee Hudak) passed away peacefully at home on the beautiful morning of May 25, 2006. Tony began his life on the family farm at Golden Prairie, SK. in 1922. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1939 to 1945. Tony and Mary were married on November 24, 1945 in Medicine Hat. They raised their family in Saskatoon where Dad started his own business, “Zac’s Building Maintenance”. Tony also worked for the University of Saskatchewan where his daily joy was walking the beautiful campus as he inspected his buildings. Dad was proud that each of his children was able to study at the U of S. Tony and Mary moved to Calgary in 1995. Dad lived his faith by loving his family and the beauty of all nature. He inspired each of us to aspire to excellence and to do so in love. Dad will always come to mind when we plant a garden, play a game of ball, or share a family meal. Tony is survived by Mary, his devoted wife of sixty years; his children, June and Bill Bergman, Judy and Chris Escott, Joan and Brian Blakley, Jeanine and Bob Loran, Jim and Kim Zacaruk, John and Margwyn Zacaruk. His nineteen grandchildren were his pride and joy, Joe and Jill, Ted and Mel, Rob and Kim Bergman, Jessica Escott, Benjamin Escott (fiancÚ Lindsay Darling), David, Chris and Laura Blakley, Deborah, Matthew, Meghan, Rebecca and Julia (JJ) Loran, Alexander and Samantha Zacaruk, Anna, Adam, Claire and Jake Zacaruk. Tony was also blessed with two great-grandchildren (Ted and Mel’s Caitlin and Tyler), and was delighted with Joe and Jill’s news of a new addition in October. Please join us in a Celebration of Tony’s Life.
