Obituary of Lucia Galante

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and aunt, Elena Lucia Galante at the age of 92 years. She passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Friday, May 26, 2006 surrounded by loved ones. Lucia was born in Villalago, L’ Aquila on November 13, 1913. Our mother was an accomplished seamstress, animated story teller, devoted to her family, church and home. She set high expectations for herself and worked hard to always meet those standards. No one had a better laugh or laughed more often. Although small in stature, she was a gentle, generous, intelligent, and an unassuming woman yet had a feisty spirit. The way she lived life is an example to all of us. Riposo in Pace Mamma Non piangete, vi amero al di la della vita L’amore e l’ anima e l’ anima non muore Lucia will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Rosalinda (Fran Ratcliffe); sister-in-law Lisa Grossi ; several nieces and nephews and their families as well as many friends in Calgary, Villalago and Rome, Italy. She was predeceased by her husband Ugo, her siblings, Maria Buccini, Donato Grossi and Dora Caputi and her in-laws, Anselmo and Assunta D’Antonio. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWA’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, May 29, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
