Obituary of Dorothy Laverne Stewart

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of an amazing woman, Dorothy L. Stewart, on Sunday May 21, 2006, at the age of 61 years. Dorothy touched the lives of everyone she met and will be deeply missed. The angels came and took her away too soon but she is in a safe and peaceful place where she will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, her laugh and her never ending love for her family and friends. She was “Nana” to her grandchildren and devoted her life to them – nothing brought her more joy. Dorothy leaves behind her incredibly loving husband of twenty-eight years, George; her mother Viola Shilmar; her daughters Debora Dever (Mike), Karen Herle (Darin), Shelley Steele (Doug), and Tania Baldwin (Mike); her step-children Patti Dwyer (Bob), Sherry Parsons (Mike), Paula Howe (Pete) and Rob Stewart (Muriel); her brothers Victor (Shawn), Charlie (Ann), and Vernon; and her sister-in-law Dona. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Cassidy, Alexa, Jared, Jack, Emma, Devon, Megan, Benjamin, Chris, Jeremy, Travis, Megan, Liz, John, Kody, Sarah and Madison; her nephew Taylor and nieces Kathleen and Michelle to whom she will always be remembered as “Aunt Dot”, as well as her other nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her father Robert Shilmar; and brother Bob (Dona). A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Friday May 26, 2006, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Cooper Memorial Hall (7412 – 17th Avenue S.W.). Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of their choice in Dorothy’s honour. We wish to express sincere thanks to all the staff at the Phoenix Memorial Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona as well as the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary. “We love you Nana, now, always and forever. Roses on your pillow”. In living memory of Dorothy Stewart, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W.
