Obituary of Brenda Aries

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our precious daughter, Brenda on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the age of 51 years. Brenda was born in Theodore, SK on June 30, 1954 to Rita and Jack Aries. She grew up in Wolseley and Estevan, SK and eventually moved to Calgary with her parents and brothers in 1970 where she attended Mount Royal College and obtained an arts degree, prior to going to University. She worked for the non-profit sector for many years, beginning with Independent Living Resource Centre and moving on to the United Way and the Ability Society and eventually the Paraplegic Association. Her most recent endeavours were as a Client Services Coordinator at the Champions Career Centre. Brenda loved people and served voluntarily on many committees and continuously strived to improve the rights and privileges of the disabled and other minorities. She faced many challenges in her life with tremendous strength and resilience. These particular qualities gave her the courage and determination to fight the battle with breast cancer in 2002. She fought long and hard, however other health complications in the last few months returned her to hospital recently, where she passed away peacefully, with her family by her side. Brenda will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her parents Rita and John (Jack) Aries; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duayne and Karen Aries, Darrell and Cecile Aries; nieces and nephews, Claire, Chanelle, Zachary, Noah, and Quaid; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
