Obituary of Dorothy Rider
It is with deep sadness that the family of Dorothy “Enkoo” Rider announce her passing on Friday, May 19, 2006 at the age of 84 years.
“Enkoo” attended the Morley Residential School up to grade eight and worked in the S.C.E.P. program on the reserve, the health committee and in daycare facilities throughout her early years. She believed in her culture and traditions. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Sandy (Marie) Rider, Mary Jane Twoyoungmen, Desi Rider, Phyllis Ear, Dave (Lorna) Bearspaw, Howard Ear, Lycrecia Ear; sister Reba Powderface; adopted sister Mary Saddleback; special daughter-in-law Florence (Bruce) Wesley; grandchildren Madeline (Alvin) Young, Emily (Councillor Rod) Hunter, Wendy (Russell) Twoyoungmen, Gavin Ear, Nonie (John) Fox, Janice Twoyoungmen, Lynel Benjamin (Dallas), Shelly Benjamin, Paget (Alicia), and Gracie Amos, Vena (Gabriel) Ear, Linda Twoyoungmen (Shawn), Kevin (Lola) Hunter, and Rosie (Jason) Daniels, Evelina Amos. As well as thirty-six great-grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-great-grandchildren. “Enkoo” is also survived by cousins, Nora Stevens, Lazarus (Lilly) Wesley, Bill (Elsie) Holloway, Horace Holloway, Shiela (George) Labelle, Clara Ruby Snow, Beatrice Poucette, Brenda, Margaret, Barbara, and Jeff (Evelyn) Hunter, Gwen Rider, May BigCrow, Lavine Brown, Stella Powderface, Clara Rollingmud, Connie Poucette, Sykes Powderface, Remona Wildman, and Christine Dixon. “Enkoo” was predeceased by her parents Enoch Rider in 1970, and Mary Jane Crawler in 1924; her sisters, Flora (Noah) Ear, and Myrtle Rider, Mary Jane Rider and Hazel Rider, infant brother in 1923, and son-in-law Hanson Twoyoungmen Jr. in 2002. The family would like to apologize for anyone we might have missed naming.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of the late “Enkoo” Rider (Morley, AB) on Monday and Tuesday, May 22 and 23, 2006. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Morley United Church (Morley, AB). Graveside Service to follow at Bearspaw Cemetery, Morley, AB.
