Obituary of Ellen Smith

Ellen ‘Ella’ Viola Smith, (nee Allen) of Calgary, dearly loved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on her 95th birthday, on Monday, May 15, 2006. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Debbie of Calgary; daughters and son-in-law, Joan of Brockville, ON, and Bonnie and Gary Niemi of Calgary; eleven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Hurford of Brockville ON; cousins; nephews; and life-long friends in Ontario. After the passing of her beloved husband, James Dudley, in May of 1986, Ella moved to Calgary from Stittsville, ON, where she had spent most of her life. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Ella’s friends at Shalem Manor, where she resided, the members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Calgary and friends from bridge groups at Pinebrook, Horton Road Legion and Bow Cliff Seniors together with family friends who made Ella’s time in Calgary very memorable for her. Ella was always so thankful for even the smallest kindness shown toward her; please consider doing a kind deed for a senior in remembrance of her. At Ella’s request, a Private Family Memorial Service will be held in Calgary. A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kanata, ON.
