Obituary of Show Thin Wong
Show Thin (Sandy) Wong, of Calgary, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on May 8, 2006 at the age of 75 years.
Sandy was born on January 8, 1931 in the city of Toi Shan, municipality of Chow Yan, province of Canton, China.
He came to Canada in 1952 where he first settled in Regina, becoming head chef at the Hotel Saskatchewan. Two years later Sandy moved to Moose Jaw, where he married Sai Gee Ng in August of 1955. Sandy and his father Henry owned and operated their own restaurant in Moose Jaw until retiring in 1993. He enjoyed his retirement, fishing, hunting and spending time in his garden. Sandy especially enjoyed his family but most of all his grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by his loving wife Sai Gee of fifty one years and his children Lily and Gary Davies of Calgary, Barry Wong and Linda of Prince George, BC, Nancy and Kim Copping of Calgary, Julie and Kevin Bachmeier of St. Paul, Minnesota, Terry and Dana Wong of Calgary; grandchildren Nicholas, Gavin, Maggie Wong, Daniel and Annie Copping, Emily Bachmeier, Peyton and Ethan Wong as well as a sister Kow Woon Hu in Moose Jaw.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, May 15, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
