Obituary of One Spot

Sheila (Molly) One Spot of Tsuu T’ina Nation, has been called home by our Creator on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the age of 56 years. Molly was raised in Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB by her grandparents, Ed and Georgina One Spot. She was educated in Calgary, and later attended the University of Missoula in Montana., U.S.A. When she returned to Canada, she was employed with the Native America Studies Department at the University of Lethbridge. Molly also enjoyed a career as a journalist; she wrote for Maclean’s Magazine. Throughout her life, she participated in and had a passion for traditional dancing; she attended pow-wows in both Canada and the U.S.A. Molly also took part in barrel racing events that were hosted by the Indian Rodeo Association. She will be mourned by her family and relatives from Tsuu T’ina and Nakota Nations. Molly is survived her daughters, Shirley and Faye (Bruce); son, Robin; grandchildren, Coy, Colemyn, and Joseph; her father, Roy Otter; mother, Grace (nee One Spot) and David Daniels Sr.; brothers, Victor One Spot, Jim (Josephine) Big Plume, David (Loretta) Daniels, and J.C. Daniels; sisters, Sophie Stimson (Otter) (Jordan), Iris Otter, Sharon (Otter) Deschamps (Ron), Cindy Otter, Vanessa Otter (Wayne), Raquelle Poucette, Terry Daniels, Cindy (Rod Scout) Daniels, Diane Lee (Homer) Daniels, and Theresa Daniels; and her companion, John K. Luthi. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Daisy and Oscar Otter; maternal grandparents, Edward and Georgina One Spot; sister, Cheryl Ford; brothers Ronnie Big Plume, Larry (Lawrence) Peltier, and Larry Werner Daniels; and uncles, Robert W. One Spot, Norman One Spot, Ray One Spot, and George One Spot. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Roy Otter (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB) on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Roy Otter’s Residence, Tsuu T’ina Nation, AB.
