Obituary of David Arnold Swan
David Swan, beloved husband of Ingrid of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at the Rockyview General Hospital at the age of 75 years.
David was born on April 29, 1931 in Central New Annan, NS, where he began his career in the lumber industry working beside his father at the family sawmill. He later attended the Maritime College of Forest Rangers in Fredericton, NB. David moved to Calgary in 1969, where he took the position of General Manager for Calgary Wood Products and K&P Holdings until his retirement in 1994. David loved nothing more than spending a leisurely day on a road trip to the mountains. He was an avid reader and fisherman and took any chance he could to travel.
Besides his loving wife, Ingrid (Iversen), David will be missed by his sister Elsie Bain of Debert, NS; his sons and daughter-in-law, Dean, Carson, Brian and Rita; and his granddaughter Stephanie. David is also lovingly remembered by his brother-in-law Frank; his nieces, Monica and Teresa; his nephews, Douglas, Gerald and Albert as well as their families; and many numerous close friends. David was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Nettie (nee Oliver) Swan; his sisters, Margaret Rose and Betty; and by his brothers-in-law, Ralph and Garth.
A Celebration of David’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, May 12, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
