Obituary of Edwin Francis Berry
Edwin Francis (Ed) Berry, beloved husband of May of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Monday May 8, 2006, at the age of 85 years.
Ed was born on March 20, 1921 in Laverne SK, and spent his childhood on the prairies in southern Alberta before enlisting in 1939 for service during WWII. He was cited in Germany by Montgomery for his service during the war. Ed met May in England, they married there on December 21, 1941. He and his beloved war bride moved to Canada in 1946 with their three year old daughter Elaine, and resided in Lethbridge, Foremost, Ponoka and Edmonton before moving to Calgary in 1970. Ed enjoyed a long career with Beaver Lumber, working and travelling throughout Alberta and BC, from which he retired as district manager in 1982.
Besides his loving wife May, Ed is also survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine and David Hughes of Calgary; and Lorraine and Brendon Hickson of Vancouver. He was predeceased by his two sisters and brother-in-law, Winnie, Ethel and Bern.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday May 15, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Rita M. Cattell Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
