Obituary of Frederick John Guy

Frederick John Guy of Calgary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the age of 91 years. Fred was born on June 14, 1914 in Regina, SK, the only surviving son of Birtwell Hatch Llewellyn Guy and Edith Maud Peverett. Fred spent his working life with the Bank of Montreal. After serving a variety of postings in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, he spent five years in St. John’s, NF before moving on to Montreal, QC where he finished his career and retired in 1982. Fred moved from Montreal to Calgary in 1991 where he enjoyed the outdoors and games of bridge with friends and Bank of Montreal pensioners. Fred will be dearly missed and forever remembered by his companion of twenty-two years and best friend Jean Hardy; her sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Judy, Alan and Carol; Fred’s sons and daughters-in-law, Gerry Guy and Paula Steinberg, Bob Guy and Susan Higgins, all of Calgary; Fred’s daughter Beverly and son-in-law Alan Gartner of Montreal; and grandchildren, Meghan, Devon, Daniel, Jamie, Jeremy, Jordhynn, and Jaxen. Fred was predeceased by his wife Lorraine (nee Myrden) in 1983. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, May 8, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. Fred’s final resting place will be at Mount Royal Cemetery in Montreal.
