Obituary of Gilliland McGregor

It is with great sadness that the McGregor family announces the passing of Gill of Calgary on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 the age of 52 years. Gill was a born and raised Calgarian, who like many other Calgarians had a great passion for sports, especially the Calgary Flames and the Calgary Stampeders. Gill has had a long and courageous battle with cerebral palsy, but despite this never lost his love of life. The last twenty-three years of his life Gill resided at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre. Gill had a great love for horticulture and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of it. He was a true competitor, winning several medals at World and Olympic competitions. There along with his coach, Tom, Gill set many records in the 1980’s. Gill was a very generous person and had a very big and loving heart. He will be greatly missed by all that he has touched over his years. Gill is survived by his mother Jeanette McGregor; his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Allan Sinclair; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Rob and Sue McGregor and Ray and Libby McGregor; and his brothers, Ken, Calvin and Jeff McGregor. Gill will also be remembered by his nieces, Jen Sinclair, Alicia McGregor and Kendra McGregor; and his nephews, Chris Sinclair, Jonathan McGregor, Greg McGregor, Tyler McGregor and Brett McGregor. Gill will always be remembered by his many friends and all the staff at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre. Gill was predeceased by his father John and his brother Pat.
