Obituary of Jack Feingold

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jack Feingold of Calgary on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at the Rockyview General Hospital at the age of 86 years. Jack was born in Czechoslovakia on November 29, 1919 and came to Canada at the age of 11 years. He was a successful businessman in Calgary, and has been involved in the shoe business for over sixty years – owning many shoe stores throughout Alberta including, Town and Country and Footwear in Calgary. He was a strong believer in community service, was the President of B’nai Brith for twelve years, and was also the President of the Shaarey Tzedec Synagogue. Jack will be missed by his wife of sixty-one years, Sophie; children, Lynda, Larry (Marilyn) and Lori; and grandchildren Lindsay, Kyle, and Jeremy. He is also survived by his five sisters, Irene Fruman, Cecilia Guttman, Lucille Hanson, Rose (Marvin) Schacter, and Shirley Silver; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue, (1325 Glenmore Trail S.W.) on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Jewish Cemetery (30th Ave. and Erlton Street S.W.). If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to either B’nai Brith – Calgary Lodge, c/o 1607 90th Ave. S.W., Calgary, T2V 4V7, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to express their thanks to the many doctors and nurses that cared for Dad at the Rockyview General Hospital, as well as the staff at the Mayfair Care Centre in his short time there.
