Obituary of Dorothy Farley

I have led a wonderful life thanks to my precious family and world of special friends. I was fortunate to travel, work and volunteer around the globe, having lived in Victoria, Vancouver, Ottawa, Tel Aviv, New York, Vienna, Oxford, Inuvik, Banff, Queen Charlotte and Calgary. Calgary and area has been particularly good to me. Bunny passed away peacefully on March 23rd at the age of 62, after nineteen months of battling cancer with an extremely positive attitude. Bunny is survived by her father Patrick in Victoria, her sisters; Barb (Mike Tighe) in Vancouver and Pat in Victoria. She is also survived by her brothers; Dan in Plainfield, New Jersey, Jerry (Laurie, Ryan and Michael) in Victoria, Tom (Debbie, Kris and Adam) in Calgary, Ken (Ingrid, Alan and Darren) in Calgary and Larry (Casey) in London, England. Bunny was predeceased by her mother Barbara in 1988 and brother Robbie in 1963. Bunny enjoyed the outdoors, especially the mountains, camping, hiking and skiing. She was a wonderful aunt and enjoyed her six nephews immensely. She spent much of her spare time volunteering for various charities and especially enjoyed the Alberta Children’s Hospital where she volunteered for thirty years. It was at the ACH that she directed the hospital’s Shared Christmas Project, which assists over one hundred families every year. After retiring from Parks Canada in 1995, she took a year and traveled the world one last time. During this excursion, she volunteered in Calcutta with Mother Teresa. Never one to chase financial dreams, Bunny likely achieved more in her sixty-two years than many of us would in two to three lifetimes. Through her travels, Bunny touched many lives throughout the world. She was an inspiration to her many friends and family. Her sense of humour and caring nature will be sadly missed. A celebration of Bunny’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Marcel Leffelaar and Rev. Philip Behman officiating. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Children’s Hospital (Developmental Clinic), Camp Horizon (Bragg Creek) or the Agape Hospice. A Special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Foothills Hospital, Tom Baker Cancer Clinic and the Agape Hospice. In living memory of Bunny Farley, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W., CALGARY.
