Obituary of Alan William Dicken

Ret. Detective Alan William (Butch) Dicken, beloved husband of Mrs. Elaine Dicken of Calgary, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2006 at the age of 49 years. Alan was born on October 30, 1956 in Fernie, B.C. He married Elaine Hall on September 29, 1984 in Calgary, AB. Alan began his career with the Calgary Police Service on December 28, 1976, graduating from Police Recruit Class #69 in 1977. He then began his first posting in the Forest Lawn area. Alan worked in the K-9 Unit from May 1982 to 1988 and was promoted to Sergeant on April 21, 1991, later to Detective in the Vice Unit. He retired on May 31, 2003 but continued to work as a civilian member for the Police Service as a Computer Security Analyst. Alan enjoyed all sports but especially golf. He also liked woodworking, travelling and being outdoors. Besides his loving wife, Elaine, Alan is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Ken and Nancy; sister and brother-in-law Karen and Bob Lozza, all of Fernie, BC; as well as six nieces and nephews; and his dog Keysha. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law Chester and Fern Hall, of Calgary, AB; brother-in-law Wayne Hall, of Lac La Biche, AB. Alan was predeceased by his parents Bud and Margaret Dicken.
