Obituary of James Douglas Kay

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James (Jim) Douglas Kay in Calgary on Saturday, March 18, 2006. Jim was born in Winnipeg and spent his early years in Winnipeg and Regina, graduating high school from St. Paul’s College in Winnipeg. During the war Jim worked on the Alaska Highway and later enlisted in the Canadian Army. He was transferred to the RCAF at Assiniboia, SK where he was trained as a navigator. After the war, Jim obtained a B.Sc. (Chemistry) from the University of Manitoba and later studied petroleum engineering at the University of Oklahoma. Jim was captivated by Alberta’s oil discoveries and moved to Edmonton in 1952 where he met Jo, his wife of fifty-four years. Jim and Jo later moved to Calgary, his favourite city, where they settled and raised a family. Jim loved being surrounded by his family and especially his grandchildren whom he indulged and shared his love of sweets. Jim is survived by his loving wife Josephine (Jo) Kay, his sons Doug (Peggy) and Brett, his sister Maureen Singh in St. Boniface, and his grandchildren Michelle, Colin and Joey.
