Obituary of Leo Vespa

It is with deep regret and sorrow that we announce the passing of Leo Vespa. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 surrounded by his family. Leo is survived by his loving wife Emma of forty-three years, son Carlo (Sylvia), daughter Anna (John), and three grandchildren Lea, Marcus and Julian; one brother Domenico and numerous nieces and nephews all of Calgary. Leo was born in S. Stefano di Sessanio-L’Aquila Italy on March 22, 1936. Spent his youth in Italy and when he was eighteen moved to Belgium to work in the coal mines. In 1961, he immigrated to Canada to begin his new journey in life, where he was employed by CP Rail for thirty years. In 1962, he met his loving wife Emma and six months later they were married. In 1965 Leo and Emma were blessed with their son Carlo and six years later blessed with their daughter Anna. Leo had many pleasures and passions for life. He was an active member of the Calgary Italian Club. Leo had an amazing zest for life – he loved to laugh, dance, and travel. Leo had an incredible ability to make friends wherever he went. Everyone who knew him loved him. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. We love him, we will miss him and he will always be in our hearts.
