Al Wiens

Obituary of Al Wiens

Al died March 15, 2006 after a battle with acute scleroderma in his lungs. He was 71 years old. He leaves behind his best friend and wife Annelie, their four children Susi, Allison, Christiana and Hans and their spouses Barry, Jason, Ed and Jenny. He would never forgive us if we left out Sheri in Vancouver and Doris in Germany who he loved like his own. He was expecting three new grandchildren this year and we know he would have adored them as much as he does his grandchildren Jaime, Lyndon, Danielle and Joel. He also leaves behind his brothers Jake and Henry Wiens, their wives, children and grandchildren who he loved and respected immensely. He was predeceased by his mother Katharina, father Johann and brother John. Dad had a passion for people and ideas; he was an electronics technician and high school teacher by trade, an inventor and a skilled carpenter by passion. More importantly, he knew where he stood in life and why. The strength of his passions and beliefs were as firm as the rockies; his heart as big as a prairie sky. He knew the purest qualities of life are best found in children and dogs and those who knew him understood him instinctively. Dad, your big hugs are missed already, but we know you have found peace in heaven. Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church (3104 – 34th Avenue N.W.) on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
