Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Thorne
Margaret (Marg) Elizabeth Thorne, beloved wife of Leonard R. Thorne of Calgary passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the age of 78 years.
Marg was born in Calgary, AB, where she was a proud graduate of St. Mary’s Girl’s School. She was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She is remembered for her charitable work especially with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
Besides her husband Len, Marg is survived by her seven children: Dr. Lorraine Thorne (Dr. Lee Stilling and children, Carlyn, Erik and Joan); Maureen Thorne; Lennie Thorne; Dr. Jim Thorne (Kari Gundersen and their daughter Stina); Sheila Swindells (Gordon and children, Jacqueline, Gordy and Michael); Susan McEachern (James and children, Heather, Ross and Donny); Joan McGowan (Dr. Dan McGowan and their son Sean). Marg is also survived by her brother Jack Merriman; sisters Helen MacDonald, Doreen Morgan; and sister-in-law Anita Thorne.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Friday, March 17, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with the Most Rev.
