Eva Selman

Obituary of Eva Selman

With much sadness we announce Eva’s peaceful death at Southwood Care Centre, March 13. Eva, born in Fort Macleod January 26, 1905 to Kathleen and James Moore (a Constable in the Royal Northwest Mounted Police, serving under Col. Macleod), was the youngest and last remaining of ten children. A proud Albertan, she lived long enough to celebrate both her and the province’s centennial year. Eva, a beautiful and independent woman, worked at the Hudson Bay Company, the Glencoe Club, Robinson’s Machine and she retired in 1970 from Alberta Distillers. Her son James R. (Bud) Selman died in 2003. Her daughter Aileen died as a child. She is lovingly remembered and missed by her grandchildren: Michelle A. Selman (Calgary) and Thomas R. Selman (Penticton). Their mother Carol O’Connor (Westlock), Eva’s four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends will also miss her, as will her dutiful daughter-in-law, Helen Selman (Calgary). Eva was a lifetime member of the Ogden Legion where she loved to go dancing. At her request, there are no services. You may remember her by making a donation to a favored charity or any local women’s shelter. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
