Obituary of Lois Stella Norrie

Lois Norrie of Red Deer Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the age of 85 years. Lois was born on January 21, 1921. She was raised in the Springbank area, beside the Elbow River with her nine brothers and sisters. In 1945 Lois moved to Red Deer Lake where she worked for the Mckevitt family at the Red Deer Lake Store. In 1949 Lois married Bill Norrie and they became the proud owners of the Red Deer Lake Store. Lois operated this store seven days a week from early morning to late evening. The Red Deer Lake Store was a landmark and a welcomed part of the Red Deer Lake community until the widening of Highway 22 closed the store and Lois was able to retire in 1987. Lois was an active member of the Red Deer Lake United Church, the Red Deer Lake Ladies club and the Westoe WI. Lois loved the store, the community and her family. Lois is survived by her children, John, Debbie, George, Karen, Jim, Penny, Marilyn, Brent; and her grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Shaun, Kyle, Angela, Becky, Jennifer, Janelle, Brett and Kristy. Lois is also survived by her sister Andie Maude; brothers, Bill and Kent; and many other close family members. Lois was predeceased by her husband Bill Norrie, March 3, 1994 and her mother Fannie and father Andrew. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2006 at the Red Deer Lake United Church (West on Highway #22x past Spruce Meadows) at 2:00 pm.
