Obituary of Bernard Paul JOHNSON

May 29, 1923 – Oromocto, New Brunswick August 9, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta A life well lived has come full circle. Dad left us on August 9, 2019 at the age of 96. Those 96 years were full of love, laughter and amazing adventures. While underage he convinced a recruiting officer to let him enlist and went overseas to fight in WWII with the Calgary Tanks Division. Dad was an extremely proud Veteran. Upon his return to Calgary he met Velma, the first love of his life. Together they raised two daughters Brenda (Ed) and Debbie (Keith). They had a wonderful life together until Mom passed in 1979. Dad held many positions in his lengthy career with CP Rail. Dad met the 2nd love of his life on a blind date with Claire. Our family expanded when they married, giving Dad two more daughters Sharlene, Cheryl (Steve), and a son Rob whom Dad welcomed with open arms. The next generation arrived whom Dad adored and was so proud of, Krista (who passed in 1982), Matthew (Char), Erick (Mel), Mike (Carly,) Jon (Laura) and Al. Last year he became a great-grandfather to two angels, Alice and Isobella which put him over the moon. He loved to serenade them with the song Yellow Bird. Dad was a people person who could make everyone he met feel that they were special. He was kind, loving and extremely generous. Nothing was more important to him than his family. We may no longer be able to hug you but you will never leave our hearts.
