Obituary of Barbara Jane Shaw

Our beloved Barbara Jane Shaw of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the age of 62 years. Barb was born July 31, 1943 in Staten Island, NY. She moved to Canada following her education at Washington State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Education. Barb began a career with the Board of Education, teaching elementary level. She then raised her two lovely children, Brad and Keri, while building a successful career in the oil and gas industry with Canadian Occidental, now Nexen. She worked for twenty-three years until her retirement in December 2004. Barb was an avid golfer, a member of the Junior League, and especially cherished her time with her two granddaughters, Hanna and Madelyn Rimel. She was looking forward to the arrival of her son and daughter-in-law’s first child. Barbara is remembered by her son and daughter-in-law Bradley and Tara Shaw of Costa Rica; daughter and son-in-law Keri and Travis Rimel of Austin, TX; two granddaughters, Hanna and Madelyn Rimel; mother Elsie Stevenson of Seattle, WA; brother and sister-in-law Don Heppenstall and Emily Mansfield and their two children; other in-laws, David and Judi Shaw and their family; Cathy Stout and her family; as well as her dear friends the “Bridge Broads”. Barbara was predeceased by her father Harold Heppenstall.
