John Danyluk

Obituary of John Danyluk

John Danyluk passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the age of 92 years. The son of Ukrainian immigrants and the third of twelve children, John was born in Gilbert Plains, MB on November 13, 1913. Initially farming on the family homestead, John, always the adventurer and inventor, dabbled as a miner, boxer, butcher, baker, painter, general contractor and finally real estate agent/owner. Through a serendipitous series of events, John met the love of his life, Eva Maria (nee Pruefer), on her first cross-Canada trip while visiting from Germany in 1962. Having just celebrated their forty-second year of marriage on December 31, 2005, John will be forever missed. John (“Pop”), an exceedingly generous, loving father and husband, lived for his family. He had a boundless, dynamic vitality, unfaltering integrity, and an incredible work ethic, which he passed on to his children Tamara (Richard) and Taras (Paula). John, always a farm-boy, was an avid gardener. Limited only by the borders of his fence, John created a natural wonderland of trees, shrubs, flowers, and fountains, which miraculously comes to life each spring. John is survived by two brothers Tony and Nicholas; and five sisters, Mary, Lena, Anne, Nellie, and Doris. John was predeceased by his son Erlend, his brother Steve; and his sisters Olga, Bessie and Elsie. Funeral Services will be held at St. David’s United Church (3303 Capitol Hill Crescent N.W.) on Monday, March 6, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Lynn Watson, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Heartfelt thanks go to Dr. James Silvius, Dr. Jacqueline McDougall, Wilmien Brand, and Antonija. In living memory of John Danyluk, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot Chapel, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W., CALGARY.
