It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Hawkins on February 27, 2006. Barry retired as a Partner of Price Waterhouse Coopers Calgary office after an illustrious career spanning forty years. After joining the firm in Winnipeg, he participated in an exchange program with Price Waterhouse France from 1973-1976. Upon returning to Canada he was an executive interchange with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. From 1981-1996 he was based in Montreal and was involved as engagement partner on a variety of public and private companies including the Royal Bank of Canada, RBS Dominion Securities and the Business Development Bank of Canada. In 1992 Barry was assigned as a client service partner for Canadian Pacific Limited and continued this affiliation when he was asked to transfer to Calgary following the company’s relocation. While in Montreal, Barry and his family were active members of the Lakeshore Ski Club where he assumed roles as Treasurer and President. His financial knowledge led him to be Treasurer of Beaconsfield United Church and Pointe Claire Curling Club. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed a Board position as Treasurer with Word Fest Calgary. In his younger years Barry was active with his daughters on the ski hill, the soccer field and events involving horseback riding. Holidays across Canada and Europe were highlights.
