Obituary of Menkes Mac Kooistra

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of a husband and father, Menkes Kooistra of Calgary who passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the age of 79 years after having cancer for the past two years Menkes was born January 15, 1927 in Ee, Friesland, Holland and immigrated to Canada in 1953. He was a veteran of the Dutch Army. Menkes was very musical and loved gardening and carpentry. Besides Rose, his loving wife of fifty-two years, Menkes is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Alice Kooistra and Brenda and David Addie; a grandson Bryan Kooistra. He is also survived by his family in Holland, sister and brother-in-law Maaike and Yme Stiemsma, three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jan and Aria Kooistra, Piet and Duike Kooistra and Broer and Boukje Kooistra as well as many nieces and nephews. Menkes was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Aafke Kooistra. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at 2:30 p.m with the Rev. Victor Kim of Grace Presbyterian Church, Presider.
