Obituary of Kathleen Mary Mahoney

K. Mary Mahoney (nee Jones), beloved wife of Mr. Bruce W. Mahoney of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the age of 75 years. Mary was born on June 9, 1930 in Kindersley, SK. She attended the University of Saskatchewan where she attained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1951. In the same year, she met and married her husband Bruce on May 30, 1951, followed by a career as a Teacher for the Calgary Board of Education. Mary was an avid member of the Glencoe Club, Earl Grey Golf Club, Samaritan Club, the Sketch Club and also The Group. She was able to express herself through watercolour painting; her successful work as an artist is displayed in board rooms and residences all over North America. She had a passion for travel, skiing and golfing, as well as was a veracious reader. Her creativity was also seen in her many crafts and love for music. She enjoyed playing the organ but described her own playing as “only passable”. In addition to her loving husband Bruce, Mary is survived by their two sons and one daughter-in-law, Richard and Sheila Mahoney of Redwater, AB and Mark Mahoney of Calgary; daughter and son-in-law Claudia and Peter Martin of Toronto, ON; three grandchildren, Mallory, Meredith and Claire, all of Toronto, ON; her mother Ada Jones; sister Helen Davidson of Lethbridge, AB; brother and sister-in-law Warren and Lorna Jones of Calgary; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her father Tom Jones and sister Gwyne Jones. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, March 10, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Mr. Donald O’Dwyer, Presider.
