Obituary of Elizabeth Craig
Elizabeth Craig, of Calgary passed away on February 16, 2006 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Elizabeth was born and raised in Carstairs, AB then attended St. Joseph’s Convent school in Red Deer, AB. She acquired her teaching certificate in Calgary, AB and taught in the areas rural schools. Elizabeth served in the Canadian Air Force during World War II as an aerial photographer. Elizabeth married Jim and raised her children while continuing to work for the Department of National Defence, at Currie Barracks in Calgary, AB. She worked there for them for twenty-five years in Purchasing and Supply Stores. Upon retiring, they moved to Vernon BC, then to Nanaimo BC. After Jim’s passing, Elizabeth moved back to Calgary to be with her family.
Elizabeth is much loved and will be sadly missed by her sister Constance (Stanley) Jones of Calgary; her children, David Sr. of Calgary, Bruce (Brenda) of Calgary, Debbie (Edward) Laplante of Drumheller, Julia (Michael) Ferris of Calgary, and Kevin (Connie) of Cochrane; her nine grandchildren, Heather, Robert, Gordon (Jody), Greg, David Jr., Donna (Ron), Lisa (Jeff), Chelsey, and Jamie; her great-grandchildren, Logan, Tyler, Connor, Kaylie and Jacob. Her husband of forty-three years James Duncan; her father John Henry; and her mother Julia Isabelle (nee Cartwright) predeceased Elizabeth.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Stanich of Bowness Medical Clinic; Dr. Hyndman and staff in Unit 32, Acute Care, Foothills Hospital and to Dr. Wheeler and staff at Hillcrest Centre for the loving care they gave Elizabeth in the last weeks of her life.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, February 24, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
