Condolences
We were just children and Don and Honey lived across the street from Grandma Bea. We would go over to visit and hear wild stories of the circus etc. I am thé proud keeper the family’s meadowlark carving and was always in awe of both Rays!
I watch “What’s My Line” which is a black and white game show and Honey Ray was on and was whistled at until the host asked if she was Miss or Mrs. and she proudly said Mrs.Ray! She won the maximum amount of money $50 and carried herself gracefully and showed a deep love for her husband. The host John Daly asked if her husband, the one that threw the knives, flaming axes ,and ice picks at her ever missed. She said sweetly, “Yes, but it was an accident!” Bennet Cert, one of the panelist said I’d like to mention since this is black and white television that Mrs.Ray has the most beautiful red hair!!! She smiled. Her appearance made an impression on me because unlike todays generations she carried herself so properly, like a lady, had perfect posture and a deep respect and love for her husband she wasn’t afraid to show. She really made an impression on me. Tis’ why I looked her up. Truly a beautiful lady. I’m sorry for your loss and am thankful I got a glimpse into her life as it helped me change mine for the better. I am eternally grateful Honey Ray!
I was just watching What’s My Line episode, January 25, 1959 on GSN and Honey Ray was the first guest who walked onto the stage with whistles. She was a lovely lady that in the ten minutes she was on, made me want to look her up online. I’m very sorry for your loss and hope you can perhaps get a copy of her appearance.
