Obituary of Walter R. Scrimes
SCRIMES, Walter R., beloved husband of Nola of Calgary, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at the age of 88 years.
Walter R. Scrimes was born in Winnipeg, MB, August 24 1917, raised and educated there, obtaining a B Sc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba. He served as a commanding officer of 2 Coy 1 Div Sigs and finally 2 Sqn s Cdn Armed Div Sigs in WWII. Wally maintained strong ties to the military. Lt Col. Scrimes remained actively involved with 746 Comm Sqn, attending unit events and functions as a honorary lifetime member. In addition to his military career he had a long and successful career in the oil patch.
Besides his loving wife Nola, Wally is remembered by his step-son C. Terrance Nickle (Crickett) of Maryville, MO; a grandson Ashley D. Nickle of San Diego, CA.
