Obituary of Mary B. Phillips

Mary Phillips (nee McMurray) of Calgary passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2006 at the age of 84 years. Mary Phillips was born on January 2, 1922 in Calgary to Andrew and Mabel McMurray. She graduated from Western Canada High School. During the war Mary worked in Bowden, AB for the RCAF. In 1946 she married Noel, the love of her life. They would begin their family in 1948 when the first of three daughters was born. The love they had for their children extended to fostering several other children over the years. Mary enjoyed her work with Zellers, Huntington Hills and the Calgary School Board as a School Aide. She loved to play badminton, cribbage and was an outstanding volunteer. A wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and “Native Calgarian”, Mary will be fondly remembered by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beverley and Gary Garton of Parksville, BC, Debbie and Bill Boyle of Calgary and Wendy Coleman of Lethbridge, AB; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband Noel in 2005; grandson Robert Boyle in 1999; and son-in-law Don Coleman in 1997. A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at Wild Rose United Church (1317 – 1st Street N.W.) on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Hunter, Presider.
