Nora Ridewood

Obituary of Nora Isobel Ridewood

Nora left us on Friday, February 3, 2006 in Calgary at the age of 80 years, after several bewildering years coping with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was Mike’s mum and biggest fan; she opened her heart to her daughter-in-law, Sue; and she was beyond thrilled to be Ian and Graham’s grandma. Nora is also survived by Donald and Margaret Ridewood of Ottawa, ON. She was predeceased by her husband, Alan, in 1990. Before her disease stole her some years ago, Nora enjoyed a good mystery novel and the mystery of the game of bridge. She lived most of her life in Ottawa, which spurred her lifelong interest in current events, and she took pleasure in discussing and debating them with insight and wit. She loved cookies, bagpipe music, good Scotch, chocolate, and most of all her grandsons. We miss her terribly – her loyalty and love, her generous spirit and her wry sense of humour. Memorial Services will be held in Ottawa in the spring of 2006, with further details to follow. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, #201, 222 – 58 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 2S3 Telephone: (403) 290-0110. A big hug to the staff at the Extendicare Hillcrest in Calgary for the amazing care and compassion in which they wrapped Nora, right to the end. In living memory of Nora Ridewood, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403) 243-8200.
