Obituary of Donna Joan McCoey
Donna Joan McCoey, of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2006 at the age of 70 years.
Donna was born June 5, 1935 in Calgary, and grew up in Calgary and Edmonton. She began her travel industry career with Trans Canada Airlines (Air Canada). She enjoyed her career in the travel industry, and was an avid traveller who was issued one of the first tourist visas to the USSR and China. Donna was also a teacher of travel at the Career College. During her retirement years, Donna was a valued volunteer at the Kerby Center, Calgary General Hospital, and many other charities.
Donna is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sean McCoey and Michelle Boettcher, Gary McCoey and Jane Howard; a daughter Diane McCoey; and four grandchildren, Kyle, Kaylee, Emily, and Matthew, all of Calgary. She will also be lovingly remembered by two brothers and their wives Dennis and Linda Mercer of High River, and Keith and Heather Mercer of Calgary. She was predeceased by her parents Doris and Freeman Mercer; grandmother Laura Gush; and uncle Ken Gush.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. A Family Graveside Service will follow at High River Cemetery.
