Obituary of Joseph Kolis
Joseph Kolis passed away Friday, February 3, 2006 at 72 years of age.
He grew up and spent most of his life in Inglewood. A number of years ago he won the contest for the new community logo. His winning design of a goose sits atop the bridge on 9th Avenue as you enter Inglewood from downtown Calgary. Art was one of his many talents. He drew numerous pen and ink works for family and friends. He loved the outdoors and worked for the City of Calgary for many years. He took special pride in looking after Pearce Estate Park. During that time the park looked and was kept the best it has ever been. He also enjoyed a number of years working with the Calgary Zoo in their parks and maintenance. That translated to the great pride he took in his back yard, which was his favourite place and he spent many days and hours keeping it beautiful. He also spent much time in fixing and keeping up the little old house he and Betty shared in Inglewood. His deep unconditional love will be greatly missed. You will always be in our hearts and may God grant you His precious peace. He was survived by Betty (Breen) Hamilton, he was the love of her life. Joe Kolis was also survived by his eldest daughter, Janet Grimes, her husband Kelly, their children, Victoria, Brittany, Michael and Jennifer. Joe’s youngest daughter, Beverly Keats, her husband Andrew and their son Ethan. His sister Mary, brother in law Ray, their children and families. As well as Betty’s children, Patty, Joy, Barbara, Lindy, Bunny, Cam and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Marilyn (Beattie) Kolis (1972) and his parents Joseph and Helen Kolikoski.
