Obituary of Elsie Ruth Kerr

The family is profoundly sad to announce the death of their beloved Elsie Ruth Kerr on Saturday, January 21, 2006. Elsie was born Helena Jaworski in Elfros, Saskatchewan on February 15, 1916. She will be sadly missed by her devoted husband of sixty-three years, Aubrey Kerr; sons Ernie (Louise) of Toronto and Robert (Angie) of Calgary; brother Andy (Anne) Sands of Calgary; brother-in-law Donald Kerr of Toronto; grandchildren Stewart (Tonia) and Mathew Kerr of Toronto and Jennifer Kerr and Amy Pilling of Calgary; and great-grandchildren Brendan and Ty Pilling. She was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters. Elsie was an enthusiastic contributing member of many organizations including the Oil Wives of Edmonton, the APEGGA Bridge Club, and her favourite, the Samaritan Club of Calgary to which she belonged for over fifty years. Above all she was a devoted and caring mother of her two sons. Beyond this she was an advisor, confidante, helper, and philosopher to anyone that touched her heart … and there were many. Memories of her artistry, beautiful gardening, cooking prowess and her natural flare as a hostess will be remembered by all of us. Special thanks to Dr. Valentine, Dr. Boyar, and nurses Irene Jenkinson and Pat Toth for their compassion, comforting and caring. The family would also like to thank their many relatives and friends for their loving support during Elsie’s illness. A Service in Celebration of Elsie’s Life will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 – 8 Street S.W., Calgary) on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. M. Ansley Tucker, Presider.
